The East Side Society currently organizes three annual events which are a traditional part of the fabric of East Side culture.
KEEP IT CLEAN, MAKE IT GREEN
The East Side Society joins with other groups throughout the country to participate in National Clean Up Day. Volunteers are welcome to join in the tidy up campaign. All necessary equipment is supplied and there will be some small refreshments provided at the end of the event. Just come along on the day or let us know you are coming so we have an idea of numbers.
Date: September 21st
Event Time: 08:45-12:00
Meeting point: Car Park of the County Bowl
Location: Milpas corridor.

The Trick or Treat Celebration on Milpas is a real community effort to benefit the area’s children in a safe and happy environment. Over 500 children decked out in traditional scary costumes joined the parade up and down the Milpas business corridor last year in search of sweets and candy. Participating businesses and residents generously host “candy stations”, marked by colorful balloons hanging in their doorways. Do come along. The smiles on 500 faces will bring joy to your heart and some of the costumes need to be seen to be believed. If you want to set up a “candy station” let us know.
Date: October 31st
Time: 4pm - 6pm
Location: Milpas Street from Carpinteria Street to Canon Perdido
This parade is packed with fun and seasonal cheer. But the star of the show is undoubtedly the man from nearby Santa Claus Lane on Rte 101. Fresh from his second home in California, Santa is escorted by a team of dancing elves, backed by music from local bands and escorted by some of the flashiest cars ever seen, as the great man makes his way among the crowd lined route. No better sleighs have I ever seen. The parade is only made possible by the help and support of local businesses and volunteers.
Date: Saturday, December 14
Start Time: 5pm
Location: Parade will start at Canon Perdido and end at Mason Street
