The Santa Barbara East Side Society (SBES) is a non-profit organization working for the benefit of the area’s residents , businesses and visitors.
Our mantra is Community First.
WHO WE ARE
The Society’s board consists of business owners, residents and members of other non profit groups. The board members are all unpaid volunteers who freely give their time to co-ordinate community activities aimed at enhancing the culture, environment and beauty of the city’s East Side. Our monthly meetings are open to the public.
WHAT WE DO
The society currently takes the lead to set up three annual community events which are traditions on the East Side. The Halloween Parade, the Christmas Parade and National Clean Up Day. (See Events for more details)
The website and the associated Facebook page also act as first stop information guides and directories enabling everyone to find relevant services, businesses, faith centers and events in the area.
You will find regular updates on issues of concern to the community like the impact of the immigration crackdown and the homeless crisis, as well updates on council decisions affecting the area.
There are also forums for giving your voice to the debates surrounding our everyday concerns.
The mission of the Santa Barbara Eastside Society is to build civic engagement with its residents, businesses and youth, and to promote cultural events, health, safety and beautification of neighborhoods everyone can live, work and prosper.
All the money raised by subscription and donations is used solely to benefit the community. The funds are used to obtain parade permits from the city, mandated insurance cover and the running of the website. Costs are kept to a minimum. The accounts are filed and audited in line with the laws governing activities of non profit organizations.
The Society welcomes you to the website and the associated Facebook page. We hope you will become a member of the society, participate in the life of the East Side and help us to build an even more vibrant area on the part of Santa Barbara where the sun always rises but never sets.
The goals and objectives of the Santa Barbara Eastside Society will be achieved by collaborating with our community and partnering with other non-profit and government organizations.
